Getting started
What is Flex Bundles?
Flex Bundles is a native Shopify bundle app for brands whose bundles are too custom for templated apps. Bundles are added to the cart through Shopify's own Cart API and processed by a Cart Transform Function, so they flow through checkout and fulfillment as broken-out line items with accurate pricing and inventory. You keep full control over how bundles look, how they behave, how they are priced, and what data reaches the order.
How is it different from other bundle apps?
Most bundle apps give you a widget and a settings panel. Flex Bundles gives you the foundation: a cart contract, a Cart Transform Function, server-side rules, and an Admin API, and lets your team build the bundle experience on top. That means no template limitations, real A/B price testing, and order data that maps cleanly to your fulfillment tools. It is built for brands where bundles are core to the business, not a first experiment.
Do I need a developer?
It depends on the bundle type. Fixed bundles are configured entirely in the app and need no theme changes. Flex bundles, where customers build their own, need a builder UI in your storefront, which is custom theme work. If you would rather not build it yourself, we offer setup and custom storefront builds as scoped engagements.
Does Flex Bundles require Shopify Plus?
No. Fixed and flex bundles work on any Shopify plan. The one exception is free bundles for gift-with-purchase promotions, which rely on a Shopify feature that is only available on Plus.
How quickly can I get a bundle live?
A fixed bundle can be live within minutes of installing: pick a parent product and variant, add the components and their quantities, and save. Flex bundles take as long as your storefront build takes, since the selection UI is yours to design.
Bundle types and pricing logic
What kinds of bundles can I build?
Three underlying types cover the common patterns. Fixed bundles have pre-set components attached to a parent variant, for curated sets and kits. Flex bundles are built by the customer, for build-your-own, mix-and-match, and tiered offers. Free bundles add a no-charge line item for gift-with-purchase promotions. BOGO and similar promotions are built from the same pieces using flex pricing and rules.
How is a flex bundle priced?
There are two pricing modes. Parent Price charges the parent variant's price, with an optional discount your storefront sends along. Component Sum adds up the price of each selected component. Your storefront decides the mode by the payload it sends, so you can change pricing without touching the app.
Can I A/B test bundle prices?
Yes. Because bundle pricing is driven by what your storefront sends, you can split traffic and serve different prices or discounts to each group with your existing testing tools. Server-side price floors make sure a test never sells below the margin you set.
Can customers or bots tamper with bundle prices?
Not past your rules. Every bundle supports server-side rules: a minimum bundle price, per-component price floors, minimum and maximum component counts, eligible product lists, and quantity caps. Rules are enforced in the cart and checked again at checkout, so a hand-crafted cart request that breaks a rule is never priced as submitted and cannot complete an order.
Can I attach custom data like engraving text or a gift message?
Yes. Bundles carry custom attributes that pass through to the expanded order, and fixed bundles accept an attributes property on the cart line so details such as engraving text or gift messages reach every component in the order.
Checkout, inventory, and fulfillment
What does a bundle look like in checkout and on the order?
The bundle expands into its individual component line items at checkout, priced so the order total matches what the customer saw. Customers see exactly what they are getting, your team sees the real SKUs on the order, and your fulfillment tools receive the items they need to pick and pack.
Does inventory stay in sync?
Yes. Because the components are real line items, Shopify decrements their inventory as usual. Fixed bundle availability mirrors component stock at each of your locations, so a bundle only shows as available where every component actually is.
Will bundle orders work with ShipStation and my 3PL?
Yes. Every bundle order lands in Shopify as broken-out line items, tagged as a bundle order, with custom attributes that map to what tools like ShipStation and most 3PLs expect. Nothing about the order is hidden inside a single bundle SKU.
Does it work with multi-currency stores?
Yes. Component prices are captured in the currency the customer is browsing in and converted at checkout, so the amount charged matches the amount shown.
Do bundles work on TikTok Shop and the Shop app?
Yes. Bundle orders from TikTok Shop and the Shop app expand into their component line items just like orders from your online store.
Plans and billing
How much does Flex Bundles cost?
Four flat monthly plans: Starter at $99, Growth at $299, Pro at $599, and Scale at $999. Plans are gated by monthly bundle sales, every feature is on every plan, and paying annually saves 15%. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial.
What happens if I go over my plan's bundle sales?
Your bundles keep selling. Plan limits are never enforced at checkout. You will see a prompt in the app dashboard to move to the next plan, and upgrading takes a couple of clicks.
Are there usage fees or limits on the number of bundles?
No. There are no usage fees on any plan, and you can create as many bundles as you want.
How am I billed?
Through Shopify. The subscription appears on your regular Shopify invoice alongside your other apps. You can change plans from the app, and cancelling is as simple as uninstalling.
Do you offer custom or enterprise pricing?
Yes. For bundle programs beyond the Scale plan we offer custom pricing. Get in touch and we will scope it with you.

Developers and integrations
Is there an API?
Yes. The Bundles Admin API lets you create, read, update, and delete fixed and flex bundles, manage rules, and pull analytics from your own scripts and systems. Sync from a PIM, build seasonal bundles in bulk, or wire bundle management into your existing catalog tooling. There is one API key per store, generated from the app's Settings page.
Does it work with headless or custom storefronts?
Yes. Bundles are added through Shopify's Cart API using line item properties, so any storefront that can talk to the Shopify cart can add bundles, including Hydrogen and other headless builds. Bundle configuration is readable from the Storefront API, so a custom front end can render fixed and flex setups without a separate backend call.
Will it work with my theme?
Fixed bundles work with any theme and need no code changes. For flex bundles, the builder UI is built into your theme rather than injected as a widget, so it matches your design system exactly and you control every part of it.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, three ways. Export any date range as a CSV from the Analytics page. Pull a daily series from the Analytics API for dashboards and spreadsheets. Or read order-level detail straight from your own store, where every bundle order is tagged and carries a metafield with its exact components. Retention is unlimited.
Switching and support
Can I switch from another bundle app?
Yes. Brands move to Flex Bundles when a templated app cannot deliver the experience they need. Bundles can be recreated in bulk through the Admin API, and we will map out the migration with you on a demo before you make the move.
What support is included?
